Are you planning a fairy tale wedding venue that will make all of your dreams come true? A venue that exudes warmth and elegance and can bring together all of your friends and loved ones for your special day? A semi-secluded location that will make you feel like a prince or a princess from an old-world legend? The Barclay Villa, a secluded chateau-style mansion in historic Barclaysville, is able to do all of that and more.
The history of the Barclay Villa
Located 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh in Barclaysville, Northeastern Harnett County, the Barclay Villa was built by Mr. and Mrs. John Barclay in the early 1800s. The Barclays purchased 510 acres of land and built an Inn along the Old Stage Road, the main route from Raleigh to Fayetteville. Barclay’s Inn was known for its delicious food, Southern hospitality, and famous visitors, including the Marquis de Lafayette, who helped George Washington fight for independence.
The Barclay Villa is a perfect venue for a medium sized wedding. It has both beautiful outdoor areas and an indoor ballroom with balcony seating. The outdoor area features a variety of picturesque spaces and plants, including a gazebo, a small pool with a unique fish-shaped fountain, an outdoor fireplace, and lush green trees and brush. The indoor Lector Corinna Grand Ballroom features a majestic staircase as well as king and queen chairs for the bride and groom.
The venue includes a bar area for mingling, a honeymoon suite, and even a billiards room for guests and wedding party members who enjoy a game of pool.
With the availability of the warm and inviting indoor space, including an entire banquet hall within the villa, wedding parties need never worry about inclement weather. The Barclay Villa also offers a bridal suite for the wedding party to prepare and freshen up before and during the wedding day. Couples may also opt to stay the night in a private room in the magnificent villa after the wedding, and even have breakfast in bed.
The Barclay Villa can host 151-200 guests, and includes a bridal suite and reception area, and is handicap accessible. Very little decorations are needed for this already gorgeous venue, and the venue staff have been praised by numerous couples for their helpfulness and excellent service.
The Barclay Villa can handle 50 or more cars and offers overflow parking. The villa allows couples to choose their own vendors, and offers a list of suggested vendors to meet all needs, including everything from florists to musicians. Guest are invited to roam the facility, appreciating the grand mansion and gorgeous grounds.
The Barclay Villa is a photographer’s dream. The European castle-like home with elegant natural beauty creates a magnificent ambiance for any and all pictures with its dark wood, dim lights, and cathedral-like ambiance. An indoor staircase with deep mahogany railings makes for a perfect backdrop for wedding photos, as do the surrounding picturesque outdoor gardens in the back of the estate with its onsite couples fountains and lush greenery.
The architectural beauty of the villa is perfect for various wedding themes, from a literary Shakespearean focus, to a holiday masquerade.
