Kress Terrace sits on the fourth floor of the historic S. H. Kress Building. Its sister venue, Suite 300, occupies the third floor. The venues are four minutes from Greensboro College; 16 minutes from the Piedmont Triad International Airport, and 30 minutes from the cities of Burlington, High Point, and Winston-Salem.
The S.H. Kress Building is an architectural and historic landmark in Greensboro, N.C. Builders constructed the facility in the 1930s during the Great Depression. It once housed a department store owned and operated by Samuel H. Kress. His department store sold unique “stationery and notions” priced at affordable prices. Kress enjoyed selling inexpensive items to customers in elegant settings.
The store closed in 1973. New owners repurposed the building and re-opened it 13 years ago. The facility now houses restaurants, a nightclub, and entertainment spaces.

Kress Terrace and Suite 300 blends vintage style and modern-day sensibilities. The original architects incorporated Art Deco design elements that were popular during the heyday of the 1930s era. Kress Terrace has a 2,600-square-foot interior banquet hall with hanging, crystal chandeliers. The room can comfortably host 200 guests for an indoor wedding, or 225 people for a cocktail reception.
Double glass doors open to an adjoining 4,000-square-foot terrace with a rooftop garden. You can host an elegant wedding with 300 guests here. There are decorative lights and designer chairs perfect for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. A designer can use tents to protect guests from the elements.
