Kyle and Carrie were married last August, with a ceremony at St. Therese Catholic Church and a reception at Rose Hill Plantation.
When I met Kyle and Carrie, I loved them immediately. I was drawn to their hearts, the spirit with which they approach every single day—and their beautiful love story. They met while serving missions in South America when Kyle brought some students to serve at a location where Carrie had already been serving for some time. They fell in love with each other’s hearts and love for their Lord. Their faith and love for others are their most evident possessions, and I was especially struck by the way that Carrie seemed to lack any typical earthly American concerns. That faith and service was so compelling to me that I couldn’t help but want to serve them in return, on their own terms.
It seemed like even the weather wanted to make sure that Carrie and Kyle had the perfect day! It rained HARD on their wedding day, but it seemed like whenever they wanted to get pictures outside, the sky would dry up. It poured hard right after their post-ceremony portraits and then cleared up until the reception moved indoors. And then, when they wanted to get some pictures on the plantation, the sky held back yet again. It was amazing!
An Elegant Rose Hill Plantation Wedding Reception
I’m so glad that they were able to get pictures outside, too, because they chose such a gorgeous location. The Rose Hill Plantation’s beautiful grounds and rolling hills transported us all back in time to the heyday of Southern hospitality—the perfect destination wedding location. The staff was excellent, making sure that the focus was on these two amazing souls as they promised themselves to each other.
Rose Hill Plantation is a premier wedding destination for brides across the state, especially brides from the Triangle, Raleigh/Durham, southern Virginia and eastern North Carolina. Because this gorgeous venue is situated on over 800 acres of rolling hills, manicured lawns and beautiful flowers, even with the rain it was an amazing wedding venue. Of course, because Rose Hill Plantation has multiple reception options, like the elegant Nathan Hall Ballroom, rustic BBQ Smokehouse and the charming Manor House, no matter your style, it creates the perfect background for an unforgettable wedding reception. If you’re looking for a romantic backdrop that feels like something out of an old movie, this is it.
So many of my favorite pictures from this day are simple expressions of love. Carrie’s parents touched my heart with their support for their little girl, and I couldn’t even take pictures of their rings without finding some new expression of the bond these two shared. It’s obvious just looking at these pictures that they have something special.
Kyle & Carrie, I wish you all God’s best in all that you do. Something tells me that you are in good hands! It’s always so hard to say goodbye to my couples when the wedding day is often the last time I see you in person, but I wanted you both to know how much your love and faith affected me. Carrie, your hugs and pure and epic—and you both have inspired me to love more and to be better.
