Ariel and Keith were married on October 10th, with a ceremony and reception at Noah’s Event Venue in Morrisville, North Carolina.
These two soulmates met in law school and bonded over their shared ambitions and athleticism. Keith insists, though, that their story started before they even met in person, when he saw Ariel on a friend’s social media page and thought she looked nice. Later, he saw “the girl from the picture” at a Christmas party before finally, they met in January 2012.
According to Keith, NCCU Law’s carrel system (carrels are private study areas) gives preference in a lottery to older students who haven’t yet gotten their own carrel. Most of Keith’s friends had used up their turns, so he entered the lottery so all his friends could study in private too. To his delight, he was assigned a carrel right next to “the girl from the picture” and for the first time actually used the carrel often so that he could see Ariel, talk with her, joke with her, and eventually bond over hot tamales and sunflower seeds. They didn’t actually go on their first date until after Keith took his bar exam, but by that time, they had laid the groundwork for their friendship and immense love.
My second shooter, Ariana Hurdle, and I worked together once we arrived for the wedding, with Ariana working with the groom and groomsmen two hours before the ceremony. These early moments produced some of my favorite images of the day—like Keith reading the card Ariel gave him and showing his emotion so clearly. I also loved to see Ariel with her mom and sister, because the bond that they shared was palpable in that room.
Ariel and Keith’s Wedding at Noah’s Event Venue
Ariel and Keith had both their ceremony and reception at Noah’s Event Venue in Morrisville. Tucked away in an exclusive neighborhood, Noah’s offers you the privacy and quiet to enjoy the emotions of the day. Only minutes from the Raleigh/ Durham airport, it is not only a convenient choice, but a stunning venue. When it comes to gorgeous backdrops for your photography, look no further. Outdoor spaces were steeped in beautiful autumn Carolina foliage, while the interior ballroom and bar areas were impressive, rich with luxurious details. And the stunning florals and décor from TOUCH Events added elegance and drama to the room. Venues like this make my job as a wedding photographer easy!
Beyond the venue, though, I was impressed by the people I got to photograph in this wedding. Ariel and Keith are naturally stylish and very much in love, and they are the kind of couple that I go home to brag on them to my wife before she can even ask. When she hears me say, “they are really cool people,” she knows I’m already fond of them. I love finding couples like this!
On top of working with an amazing couple, I was pleasantly surprised to see some family friends at the wedding. My good friends William and Thelma Hill came down from Connecticut—it turns out they’re Ariel’s godparents! I was almost lost for words, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it made perfect sense for good people to be surrounded by other good people.
Keith & Ariel, thank you for allowing my team and me to document your wedding celebration. It’s an honor that I don’t take lightly. I wish you two all the best as you make your mark professionally and personally and know that together, along with the Lord’s leading, you two will continue to excel.
