DoubleTree Raleigh Brownstone University Wedding | Macey + Darcel

Macey + Darcel’s blush pink wedding at the Doubletree Raleigh Brownstone was all the rage! Their ceremony was intimate and elegant with a modern twist.  When asked for advice for other engaged couples, Darcel simply replied, “take your time and incorporate things that you both like. Plan things together so you don’t feel overwhelmed. Be sure to set some time aside on your special day with just you and your spouse to soak in your day.” With that being said, we’re excited to share with you all their wedding day!

Doubletree Raleigh Brownstone Wedding

Pink Wedding ShoesShare with us how you two met:
We initially met at a mutual friends dinner party. We reconnected again at another friend’s wedding. We exchanged numbers and started dating a week later.

Tell us about your proposal:
We went to Hilton Head beach for our summer vacation. We went for a midnight stroll to see the sea turtle hatchlings journey to the ocean. There was mandatory curfew so you’re not allowed to have light on the beach after a certain time. As we were walking we talked about how much we loved one another. Next thing you know, he asked me to turn on my flashlight on my phone because he dropped something. Once the flashlight was turned on he was down on one knee professing his commitment to spend forever with me.

Doubletree Raleigh Groom Wedding PrepVilmarie Marinez Contour Kissed MakeupDescribe your wedding dress. What was wedding shopping like for you?
So I only tried on about 8 dresses and went shopping on two separate occasions. On the second occasion I was accompanied by my mother and sister. When I started my journey I knew which styles I didn’t like which helped narrow down my overall search. I had a great experience looking for my dress and it didn’t take very long to find. I actually have to credit my sister for finding my wedding dress. I would describe my wedding dress as a scalloped sweetheart bodice with sheer off the shoulder straps wrapped in romantic floral lace. My dress is form fitting to the low hip, that flutters to a full-length mermaid silhouette, ending in several elegant layers.

How about your wedding shoes and jewelry:
My wedding shoes : Badgley Mischka Women’s Dawn Dress sandal

My jewelry: Silver Bridal bracelet with blush and diamond stone setting & matching earrings

Our favorite memory from our wedding is when we saw each for the first time in front of all our family and friends.

World Overcomer's Christian Church WeddingWalking down the aisle Raleigh WeddingsDid you incorporate any culture into your wedding? If yes, tell us more.
We jumped the broom at the end of our ceremony. Jumping the broom originated in west Africa as a tradition of entering a new lift together and commitment for one another. Brooms were used in marriage ceremonies where they waved over marrying couples, serving as a way to remove evil spirits and/or sweep off past wrongs in order to start anew. Most times, at the end of the marriage ceremony, couples would jump the broom, representing a new beginning.

My reception flowers consisted of gold manzanita trees accented with hanging crystals, and tea light candles. Throughout the tree and at the base were hydrangeas, various roses, hanging plants with pink daisies, and pink and white peonies. On alternating tables were 3 cylinder vases filled with blush flowers and floating candles. Head table was dressed with candles and gold glittered Mr. and Mrs. sign.

Brownstone University Wedding ReceptionTell us about your wedding photography:
Our wedding photographer is Dajuan Jones with in His Image Photography. We were initially nervous about our engagement photo shoot because we never had any professional photos done prior. Dajuan helped us feel comfortable and we had fun getting our engagement pictures taken. He is always professional, creative, talented, very reasonable, and so easy to work with. The pictures were sent to us soon after our engagement shoot. They all turned out beautifully! Each picture perfectly captured the love we have for one another! So when it came to our wedding day, we knew they would turn out nice. When we look at our wedding pictures, it takes us back to that day and lets us relive those special moments. We absolutely loved our experience with Dajuan!
