Last summer, I was honored to be able to photograph Alexandra’s bridal portraits at the Simply Divine Bed & Breakfast ahead of her wedding.
Because August is so warm here in North Carolina, Alexandra wanted to be photographed indoors. So she chose a venue she knew would fit the aesthetic she was looking for without subjecting herself to the brutal late-summer heat.
And what an aesthetic it is! The Simply Divine Bed & Breakfast in Dunn, North Carolina is over 100 years old, with stunning details like 12-foot ceilings and hand-cut oak moldings framing the doors and windows. These classical elements of a bygone era turn any photoshoot into something out of a movie. Add to that the fact that I immediately thought of the phrase, “Disney Princess,” when I saw Alexandra in her gown, and I have to agree with her choice. The bed and breakfast was the perfect venue for this stunning bride’s portrait session.
Beyond the beautiful venue, I was also amazed by the loving family that Alexandra had all around her on the day of the bridal portrait session. Her family—her mother, father, and her best friend and Matron of Honor, Lydia—all came to make sure everything was in place and to honestly have fun with this bride-to-be. They were all very nice and inviting, and I was personally pleased by how complimentary they were of the work they saw on our website as well as the images we captured of Alexandra.
With family such an important force in her life, then, Alexandra wanted to be sure she had a portrait with her mom. The love that these two share is obvious, and I was more than happy to make sure both women got this chance to shine.
Alexandra, thank you for an amazing bridal session. I loved every single image we were able to get together, and picking a favorite is like choosing which child I love more. I can’t do it; I love your pictures too much. Thank you again!
