Today I’d like to share some wedding images from a beautiful wedding we photographed last year in downtown Raleigh. The bride, Natasha, contacted me via facebook much in advance of her wedding day to express interest in having us photograph her wedding. I can’t express enough how honored I was. More than any award or accolade will ever be, the sincere desire from a bride & groom for you to document their wedding day is the highest honor for me as a wedding photographer. As I look back on their wedding day photos, and after receiving “Insights from the Bride”, it is my pleasure to share Gerard + Natasha’s wedding day with you. I hope the beauty of this day wrap you with the warmth that use to be North Carolina 🙂

Tell us about your bridesmaids …
My bridesmaids were my family & very best friends! I had 3 maids of honor and 3 bridesmaids! I am so very happy they shared in a special day!!!
Tell us about your shoes …
I wanted something different, so when one of my maid of honors suggested my “something blue” be my shoes, I found these!
Tell us about your hair & make up?
Estee Davis did my hair & make up- I felt so beautiful!
Tell us about your gown …
I fell in love with my gown while I was online looking at a dress I just tried on. When I saw it, I could picture me in it- it had the low back and I always wanted straps on my wedding dress- so I called the local bridal shops and a week later I tried it on at Alfred Angelo in Columbus, Ohio. I tried on a few others but nothing could compare!
Tell us about His groomsmen …
His groomsmen were his family & very best friends from Clinton and when he attended A&T State University in Greensboro. He was happy to have the fellas all together on a special day!!!
Tell us about your flowers …
I made my bouquet, the bridesmaids, and the boutonnieres for the groomsmen. My mother and I picked the yellow arrangement for the church decorations. I was very proud of myself!
How did you choose your ceremony venue?
Tupper Memorial Baptist Church was recommended by a wedding planner. I thought of it as a small southern-style church, which was what we wanted. It was in close proximity to our reception venue, which was very convenient!
Would you share a memorable moment?
One memorable moment would be arriving to our reception venue and unexpectedly riding a horse & carriage! Timing is everything and it was such a beautiful surprise… I truly felt like I was in a fairy tale!!!
Tell us about your reception venue …
One of my maids of honor found the North Carolina Museum of History on a wedding website and suggested that we look at it. Gerard and I really liked it, so we booked the lobby and it turned out beautiful!!
And your cake …
Edible Arts in Raleigh did our very tasty cake!
What songs did you choose for your wedding ceremony and reception, and why?
For our wedding ceremony, gospel music played throughout by CeCe Winans, John P. Kee, Vashawn Mitchell and other gospel singers. I walked down the aisle to “I Found Love” by BeBe Winans, which Gerard chose. “Face it All” by Fred Hammond played during our candle ceremony.
We wanted songs played at the reception that were very special to us while we were dating, so I surprised Gerard and we walked out to “She’s Your Queen to Be,” which was played in the movie ‘Coming to America’. Since I’ve known him, he’s always said he wanted the song played at his wedding. The song to our first dance was “The Closer I get to You” by Luther Vandross & Beyonce. Our cake cutting song was “The Point of it All” by Anthony Hamilton.
Daddy & I danced to “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker.
Gerard & his Mother danced to “Mama” by Boyz II Men.
Tell us about your honeymoon …
We went on a cruise to the Bahamas for 5 days! It was beautiful and very relaxing!!
Any advice for future brides?
Everything may not go the way you planned, but everything happens for a reason. So, take it all in and enjoy EVERY–SINGLE–MOMENT!!
